Event details

This session of Listening to the Voices of the Women Mystics will focus on Teresa of Avila, 16th century, writer of the classic, The Interior Castle.

The women mystics give voice to the the sacred feminine pathways to union with the Holy One. They invite us to reclaim our desires and longings, to trust in our experiences of God, and to unite contemplation and action.

During our exploration, we will be accompanied by strong and compassionate female mystics. The 16th century mystic, Teresa of Avila, guides us into the depth of our souls, where we rest in union with the Divine.

In this session, we will:

  • Engage in contemplative prayer through guided meditations and breath awareness
  • Listen to the writings of the mystics with Lectio Divina (sacred reading)
  • Reflect upon the teachings using writing prompts and sharing in small groups

Colette Lafia is a spiritual director and retreat leader who has a passion for helping people connect more deeply with the presence of the sacred in their hearts and in their daily lives. She is the author of Comfort & Joy and Seeking Surrender, and the forthcoming The Divine Heart (Spring 2021). She is a graduate of the Living School through the Center of Action and Contemplation.
