During this time of sadness, anxiety, and uncertainty, we want and need to take our emotions to God. The Psalms embrace the full range of human emotion from anger to awe, embodying the cries of the heart, the seeking of the soul, the search for comfort, and the desire to give praise. The Psalms are a vehicle for our dialogue with God.
During our time together, we’ll ponder and pray several psalms—delving into different translations. We will read from, Psalms for Praying, by Nan C. Merrill, Opening to You, by Zen master Norman Fisher, and the Bible, the New Revised Standard Version.
Together we will engage in quiet contemplative prayer, lectio divina (sacred reading), journal writing, and sharing in small groups. Join us and reconnect with the power of praying with the Psalms..
